Student Writers: Artist Bios
WRITE FOR THE CONCERT PROGRAM!
Are you a Princeton University undergraduate or graduate student excited about an upcoming Concert Classics series performance? Channel that enthusiasm into writing a short artist bio for the program booklet! If your bio is selected, it will be published under your name — and you’ll receive a $50 honorarium.
This new initiative, part of our Student Musings program, invites students to introduce world-renowned artists to our audiences in their own words. It’s your opportunity to reimagine the standard artist bio and bring a fresh, student perspective to our concert programs.
BIO GUIDELINES:
- Length: Fewer than 2,300 characters (approximately 400 words).
- Format: Write from your own perspective, answering questions like “What strikes you as most notable about this artist? What makes you excited to hear them perform? How would you introduce them to a friend?” You may consult official artist bios for key details, but priority will be given to submissions that bring a personal, engaging voice to the page.
- Multiple Artists: For ensembles (quartet, chamber orchestra), write one bio for the group as a whole. For duos (violin/piano, voice/piano, etc.), include both artists together in a single bio.
- Deadlines: Bios for concerts taking place in the fall semester (Belcea String Quartet, Paul Lewis) must be submitted by Friday, October 3, 2025. Bios for concerts taking place in the spring semester (Benjamin Bernheim/Carrie-Ann Matheson; Marmen String Quartet, Tabea Zimmermann/Javier Perianes; Ébène String Quartet; Australian Chamber Orchestra; Lisa Batiashvili/Giorgi Gigashvili) must be submitted by Friday, January 9, 2026.
- Selection: If your bio is chosen, you’ll be notified one week before the concert. Your writing will appear in the program booklet, credited to you, and you’ll receive $50.
Use the form below to submit your bio(s). You can submit multiple entries.
