About the Event
Individually acclaimed and collectively electric, violinist Stefan Jackiw, cellist Jay Campbell, and pianist Conrad Tao form the Junction Trio—a new-generation supergroup. Jackiw, recognized as one of his generation’s most significant artists and praised by the Boston Globe for playing of “uncommon musical substance” brings poetry and purity to the ensemble. Tao, a pianist-composer of probing intellect and open-hearted vision (New York Times), appears worldwide as both interpreter and creator. Campbell, hailed as “electrifying” by the New York Times, approaches music—old and new alike—with fearless curiosity and deep emotional commitment. Having all appeared on the series in other contexts, the musicians come together for their Princeton University Concerts debut as an ensemble with a program that bridges past and present, pairing a striking new co-commissioned work by Andrew Norman with Schumann’s deeply expressive first piano trio.
