About the Event
Mark Morris, celebrated as one of the most prolific, influential, and musically profound choreographers of our time, has long been contemplating a deeply personal question: What will happen to his company and his remarkable body of nearly 200 works after his death? In response, he has begun creating new works designed for posthumous premieres, as part of the Mark Morris Dance Group’s Dances for the Future legacy plan.
In this intimate conversation—moderated by Ara Guzelimian, Artistic and Executive Director of the Ojai Music Festival and former Dean and Provost of The Juilliard School—Morris will reflect on how this process has shaped his understanding of artistic legacy and the vital role of art in confronting our mortality. The evening will be interwoven with live dances performed by members of his company.
