About the Event

Join us at the Princeton Public Library to dive into national bestseller The Septembers of Shiraz by Dalia Sofer, a novel set in the aftermath of the Iranian revolution, in context of Princeton University Concerts’ upcoming event with renowned Iranian musician Kayhan Kalhor on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 7:30PM as part of the Healing with Music series. This hybrid in-person and virtual book group will culminate in a keynote event on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 7PM (EST) on Zoom with award-winning international correspondent Deborah Amos, whose reporting on the Middle East and refugees in the U.S. has regularly been featured on NPR’s Morning Edition, Weekend Edition, and All Things Considered, and Iranian-born American author Dalia Sofer. Participants of this book club will be automatically registered for the keynote and will have the opportunity to pre-submit their questions to Deborah Amos and Dalia Sofer.

ABOUT THE BOOK

In the aftermath of the Iranian revolution, rare-gem dealer Isaac Amin is arrested, wrongly accused of being a spy. Terrified by his disappearance, his family must reconcile a new world of cruelty and chaos with the collapse of everything they have known. As Isaac navigates the terrors of prison, and his wife feverishly searches for him, his children struggle with the realization that their family may soon be forced to embark on a journey of incalculable danger.
